EOL Box: Professional End-of-Line Termination

The EOL box is a specialized component designed to serve as an End-of-Line (EOL) termination for audio systems that utilize a 20kHz pilot tone for open and short condition detection. This device ensures continuous and accurate monitoring of loudspeaker circuits by providing a reactive load specifically at 20kHz. It is engineered to be positioned at the most remote point of the loudspeaker wiring, making it an essential part of sophisticated audio systems.

The EOL box distinguishes itself from standard loudspeakers by being reactive at 20kHz, enabling precise current measurement via HiQnet Audio Architect™ software. This feature makes it possible to detect circuit anomalies such as opens or shorts based on changes in the 20kHz current. The device offers flexibility with an external switch that allows users to select between 10Ω or 5Ω loads at 20kHz, catering to different system requirements.

This method of end-of-line monitoring integrates the 20kHz pilot tone with the audio signal. The pilot tone can be sourced from the DCi Network family of amplifiers and the CTs amplifiers with integrated USP4 modules. Additionally, the built-in DSP in these amplifiers enables the pilot tone to bypass internal speaker processing, ensuring an uninterrupted monitoring process.
